Alison Rose's Chocolate Biscuits (Brake Pads)

  • 125g unsalted butter
  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • A few drops of vanilla essence
  • 1 egg
  • 1¼ cups self-raising flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • ½ cup dark chocolate bits or 125gm dark chocolate (chopped)

Preheat oven to 200°C

Cream butter & sugar (Al says she melts butter first --- it is quicker and seems to work the same)

Add vanilla essence and egg --- mix well. Mix together flour and cocoa, add to mixture with chocolate.

Teaspoonfuls onto baking tray, bake for 15-20 minutes

We usually make a double quantity as they do not last long.
